THE PARAGON GENERATION 06 June 2008
The Paragon (Edutech Master Learner Programme) programme offers a comprehensive approach to learning and studying. The learner is personally involved with the material through activities, pictures, graphs and questions for self-reflection, which facilitates metacognition and the internalization of new knowledge.
The program is compiled in such a way, that it constantly boosts the learners’ academic self-image by emphasizing the child’s strengths. The aspect of the programme is of particular value, as children who struggle academically often suffer from low self-esteem.
Specific memory skills like visualization and association are taught through extensive activities. This helps the learner to acquire these skills through practice.
Throughout the program, the way the brain works is explained in an understandable way, which helps the learners to understand the way their minds work and serves as an excellent motivation for completing activities and learning new skills. A variety of skills are taught, including reading, thinking, and listening skills, which will all assist learners to achieve according to their own unique potential.
The last section on writing examinations gives learners excellent tips, which can help them to avoid the common pitfalls that they may encounter in an exam.
This program can be implemented as an excellent intervention for any learner who experiences barriers to learning. It can also be used with equal success for learners who simply want to improve their academic achievement.
